NEW PARISHIONER POTLUCK!
The St. Michael Welcoming Committee (also known as the new parishioners’ welcoming committee) is the parish committee that is tasked with welcoming all new parishioners to our parish. The committee is composed of 15 members and headed by a chairperson. The committee hosts a potluck dinner for all new parishioners every 4th Tuesday of the odd numbered months at 7:00PM at the Parish Small Hall. The members also call and visit the new parishioners to invite them to the Potluck. Currently the committee is chaired by Janis Ardley-Durr - 925-371-1103. LAY MINISTERS TO THE HOMEBOUND
St. Michael sponsors a Home Visit Ministry for ill and elderly parishioners. Eucharistic Ministers bring Holy Communion to those who are recuperating or who are home bound. Visits are usually once a week and last about half hour. Initial training is provided. Contact: Clara George 925-443-6829 or leave message at the parish office 447-1585 x 0.
PRISON MINISTRY
Jesus is in JAIL! Will you pray with him?
"Be Not Afraid!" Jesus was incarcerated during his life, and he can still be found in the jail. Come and see for yourself. Jesus calls us to show compassion to the least in our society, as evidenced by a line from one of the parables in the Gospel of Matthew: "I was in prison and you came to me" (Mt 25:35-36). "Jesus calls us to do this ministry," and this ministry is one of the corporal acts of mercy.
Join the Prison Ministry team and do the corporal acts of mercy for our brothers and sisters behind the Prison Walls of Santa Rita Jail. If interested you will be required to attend one of the scheduled informational meetings: June 5 (6:30pm) Conference room beside the rectory office. Saint Michael Parish is committed to feeding the hungry at Open Heart Kitchen on the 5th Wednesday of the month. At this time we could use more volunteers to help in this ministry. There are two shifts, 9:30–11:45 AM and 11:45 to 2:00 PM. Jobs include preparation of food, leaders and instructions are there, setting the table, serving food, and organizing the donated items to be given out and clean up afterwards.
The work is fun and the time goes by quickly. We meet at Holy Cross Lutheran Chruch, 1020 Mocho Street, Livermore. Please call Donna Kraftat 449-0757. The 5th Wednesdays for 2012 are:
