Wedding Music

As you journey toward your wedding day, please review this Wedding Music Guide. The selection of the music for your wedding is special and unique to each couple. The following quotation from the Music of Catholic Worship, will be helpful in understanding the liturgical expectations of the Catholic Church. Please review these selections and bring the guide along with any questions to your scheduled Wedding Workshop. Thank you and God Bless you as you complete the preparations for your Sacrament of Marriage.

"220...music should reflect the truth that all the sacraments celebrate the Paschal Mystery of Christ. Secular music, even though it may emphasize the love of the spouses for one another, is not appropriate for the Sacred Liturgy. Songs that are chosen for the Liturgy should be appropriate for the celebration and express the faith of the Church."

Quinceanera Music

Music for your Quinceanera follows the same guidelines as Weddings. Music is to reflect the faith of the Church. Please download the Wedding Music Guide as many of the selections are also appropriate for your Quinceanera. Please download a copy of this guide and bring it with you to your scheduled Workshop.

 

Musicians

The Wedding/Quinceanera Workshops will be very helpful in understanding the musical needs for your special day. It is important to note that musicians will be contracted through the Director of Music Ministries. Music selections must also be approved by the Director of Music Ministries. Much of these arrangements can be accomplished at your scheduled workshop. Please note that you may have Mariachi’s at your Wedding or Quinceanera. Please bring all information regarding proposed Mariachi group to your scheduled Workshop.

Also, please note that at least one St. Michael’s Parish Musician must be at all Weddings and Quinceaneras.

 

Wedding and Quinceanera Workshops

The next Wedding and Quinceanera Workshop is Sunday, (date to be determined) from 3:00pm-4:30pm in the Church. Barbara Pinto-Choate, Director of Music Ministries, will facilitate this workshop. Additionally, both coordinators, English and Spanish speaking, will also be present to answer any questions you may have. Please register early by downloading or emailing the Wedding and Quinceanera Workshop RSVP form at the link below and also on the downloadable Wedding and Quinceanera letter. It is most beneficial if both the Bride and Groom attend as well as Quinceaneras and their parents. Thank you!
